From the long established container deposit scheme and ban on lightweight plastic bags to our campaign to secure better management of the Murray-Darling Basin, South Australia continues to attract the attention of national and global leaders in environmental management and reform.

The South Australian Government has demonstrated leadership and innovation in climate change, water security, zero waste and renewable energy. We have  led the nation in attracting investment for alternative energy sources such as geothermal energy, wind power and solar energy.

South Australia was the first state in Australia to introduce a feed-in scheme to encourage the rapid take-up of solar power. It was also the first State to introduce a regulatory framework tailored to the needs of the rapidly developing geothermal industry.

The South Australian Government¬† recognises that ‘green’ is good business, presenting major opportunities for South Australian industry and offers several programs for companies in the cleantech area.
